May Screenings + Best Doc Awards (Newsletter)

Dear Friends,

Spring is here, those of us in the U.S. are so grateful to be getting vaccinated, and we are happy to continue to share FROM HERE with audiences in new geographies. 

In the last weeks, we won two very exciting honors–Best Feature Documentary from the Oklahoma Cine Latino Film Festival, and Best First Time Documentary from the Boden Film Festival in Sweden. It is truly gratifying that the film is resonating with such a range of audiences, and to know it is just the beginning.

This weekend, we are super excited to be screening with New Filmmakers Los Angeles, where Christina will be doing a Q&A on Saturday, May 15th at noon PT. The program is focused on Asian and Asian American stories, and looks excellent! 

On May 20th, in partnership with the San Jose Museum of Art and Mosaic America, we will engage in a rich discussion about the film’s core themes of migration, citizenship, rising nationalism, and how a young generation in both the US and Germany are claiming belonging. Registrants will receive a password-protected link to view the film on Vimeo a week before the event. The panel will be moderated by Mosaic America CEO and Co-founder, Usha Srinivasan.

Finally, we can’t wait for the 10th Philadelphia Latino Film Festival at the end of the month. It’s so great to have the chance to reach different parts of the country - even virtually.
