Dear Friends,
What an emotional week and month. On the same day that we witnessed a historic step towards police accountability, sixteen-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant was murdered by the police. The recent mass shooting in Indianapolis included four Sikh Americans, but there has hardly been a mention of this racialized dimension of the attack in the news.
I am raw; both deeply inspired by the enormous impact social movements for racial justice have had in over the past year, and painfully aware of how much work there is to do.
We are continuing our work, and have been busy offering screenings of FROM HERE with discussions, and workshops. Tomorrow at 6 pm PT, I will be moderating a special panel where there will be space to unpack and process some of these recent events and the underlying questions of how we build belonging in a country with such a living legacy of racialized violence. Afterwards we will dance it out together and celebrate community. Please join us, and stay tuned as we continue to announce events in the weeks ahead.
Love & Solidarity,
