US Broadcast of FROM HERE on America ReFramed of WORLD / PBS (Press)

We’re excited to share that our feature documentary, From Here, will broadcast as part of the America ReFramed series on June 11th. The film, directed by Christina Antonakos-Wallace, is an intimate and inspiring look at the lives of four young artists and activists from immigrant families, as they redefine what it means to belong in a world that’s increasingly hostile toward their existence. This documentary, which aired in Spring 2023, captures their powerful stories of struggle, resilience, and creative expression in Berlin and New York.

The America ReFramed series, co-produced by WORLD Channel and American Documentary, part of PBS is known for spotlighting films that challenge the definition of American culture, often focusing on underrepresented voices. This season, various documentaries, including From Here, were acquired to reflect the diverse stories of those using self-expression to challenge cultural norms in an evolving America.

From Here follows Tania, Miman, Sonny, and Akim over the course of a decade, showing how they navigate life as children of immigrants, dealing with issues like citizenship, family, and creative expression. As their stories unfold, we see how their efforts to claim a sense of belonging push against rising nationalism across the globe.

We’re honored that From Here has been recognized by America ReFramed, a series that has consistently brought thought-provoking and diverse stories to public television since 2012. As executive producer Chris Hastings notes, this series has showcased a vast range of independent filmmakers—those both emerging and seasoned—telling essential stories that illuminate the complexities of the American experience.

Stream From Here on PBS and see the full slate of America ReFramed films this season on WORLD Channel and PBS platforms. For more information, you can read the full article here.
